Should the floor pan of a 73 911 be light gray or exterior color?
Should the floor pan of a 73 911 be light gray or exterior color?
It should be a light coat of exterior color exposing (by this time) the black factory undercoating ....

Just to clarify,
Are you asking about the finish of floor pan (under the carpets) of the interior, or the finish of bottom of the pan looking up under the car?

the finish on the bottom of the car, underside of the car.
After 23 years looking under my US imported, April built '73S I have learned......
The bottom of my '73's pan was first sprayed in light beige/grey heavy stippled PVC coating (as was the wheel wells, and engine compartment) Then the wheel wells, engine compartment, and (to a much lesser degree) the trunk were sprayed body color. The bottom of the pan was then brush painted black over the PCV coating and body color overspray... the black went from the front to the back (front gas tank support to engine firewall) and side to side at the lower uni-body seam ... EXCEPT where the black paint bridged below the rear torsion bar cap area.
Though the years some of the body color, and black, have worn through to revel the beige/gray color of the PVC coating.....
Here's 3 pics of the that rear wheel area.....
Hope this helps

Gemini Blue, GREAT color, this REALLY helps, can you post one more picture of the front wheel well Blue to black line?
Ron
Well Ron, it's Metallic Blue (#334) not Gemini (#335)
Anyway, the line of demarcation in the front between the body color and the black of the pan is the big (pan to body) seam right above the lower A-arms.
Inboard of the seam it's black, outboard it's body color.
Hope this helps...
