Ready to fix up old 911S

I have a 1968 Porsche 911S that was a gift from my father. He bought it in 1978 in San Jose, CA. My father said it was "black market" imported from Canada and used as a road racing car. The VIN is 11835…

I’m not sure how to start the restoration. It has 70,000 miles and hasn’t ran in 25 years. Does anyone have suggestions on what to do and not to do. It doesn’t need any body or interior work. The Ricaro seats replaced the stock interior but it looks good.

First don't even try to start it. It needs to be towed to a shop, the gas tank removed and cleaned. Cars that are not prepped for long term storage can be real problems to recommission. I would contact Dave Bouzaglou at TRE, they would be able to help you out.

There are several good shops in the Seattle area. Drop me and email and I can recommend one near you. John

Where are you located? If we know where you are we can probably give you some better advice.
