Porsche Parade 2011-Savannah

OK, here we go again! The Parade site this year is a Southern destination; Georgia's first city, Savannah!
It will be a great relief to have a Parade in a location where you can escape the "city" in just a few short minutes, enjoy some southern hospitality and have access to the major events (including the autocross!!) within walking distance of the headquarters hotel.
It would be great to see some more "Early 911" representation there, registration opens on March 8th and you can find more info at http://parade2011.pca.org.
Join thousands of Porsche enthusiasts for PCA's largest event! Let everyone know you are going here or at the Parade Facebook site so people can make travel plans.
See you there!

I have a few suggestions as a life-long GA resident. I plan to attend.

It's going to be hot and humid.

The beach areas are not very nice. This a major shipping port. Those huge ships bring in a lot of smells.

There are several very nice downtown hotels within walking distance of some very good restaurants. I assume that most of the parade stuff will be in this area.

Savannah has two road racing courses. Roebling Road (actually in Pooler, GA) is a old SCCA track (recently repaved). There is a track on Hutchinson Island (across the river from downtown Savannah). You can move back and forth via a ferry or drive over the bridge.

The Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa is located on the Island.

There are numerous hotels on I-95 (15 minutes from downtown). It's a main north/south coastal interstate (so security could be a problem for your parked car).

A hotel pool will be almost a requirement during this time of year.

And yes, you can drive a few miles inland and find some very nice, smooth, and deserted roads. Just watch the speed limit when driving through some of the small towns (aka, speed traps).

Have fun.

I read from a certain article that the 2011 Porsche Parade has a potpourri of activities and club members from all across North America come together for this once a year extravaganza to participate in a week of competitive events, to socialize and enjoy their cars, with seminars and tours adding to the event’s variety. Plus the party has been toasted all day long. But meanwhile, I read from here Porsche Cajun and Cayenne diesel coming to States that Porsche confirmed some information that has been rumored for a while. The automaker will release its little SUV Cajun in the U.S. for 2013. Also, a brand new diesel Cayenne will be released stateside in 2012. What do you think about this guys?

The Parade stuff is true, don't know about the Cajun and Cayenne diesel though. This year's Parade is in Salt Lake city.
