Top Front damper adjustement on 1965

    Hi,
I got a 912 1965 with first Top front damper fixation without any adjustement.
Is there any body can give me confirmation that the driving is critical with that, and is there someone how make modification to a new system with possible adjustement.

    Freddy,

Yes, 911 up to 302695 had non-adjustable front struts. This would have been until about November, 1965. Your 912 was likely made before the transition.

Non-adjustable means exactly that-- the shock mounts to the body with a bushing just like the rear shocks, and there is no sliding plate to allow adjustment. When the camber was made adjustable, the hole in the inner fender was increased in size and made oblong to facilitate movement of the camber plate.

The only option that I can see to change the geometry without cutting the inner fender would be to change camber at the BOTTOM of the strut with a spacer between the control arm and the balljoint. This is an SWB racer trick that has been illustrated here.

Other than that, I'm afraid non-adjustable means non-adjustable, you will have to run whatever camber settings you can get. The early cars used 165R15 tires as well, making them more of a historical show car than modern driver.

Also, call Hayden Burwill at WEVO and ask him whether you can drill holes through the inner fender to mount this:

It relies on alignment bolts like the later cars, but perhaps can be adapted?
