A few more. BTW, the coolers and boxes were courtesy of Curt and company who flew in from parts far away and rented a black Volvo with ALL the insurance they could handle - I guess an Audi wasn't available from Budget.

Okay, the next sequence is all about Thorsten Klein and how much of an absolute badass this man is. He and his girlfriend flew all the way from Germany, and we figured the best way to welcome him was to give him a German car to drive and make him open beers for us. Thanks, Thorsten, it would have been mass hysteria without you.

Mother nature decided to help wash the cars after the long trip.

Yeah, when we told Thorsten we didn't have an opener for the Becks he looked at us like, 'so what is ze problem?'.
This might get me in trouble...
I am cracking down on these photos...
How funny...
As always, it was SO worth it - to fly out!!!
The RGruppe is just the GREATEST bunch of friends somebody can wish for!
It messed up all my future budget plans -
to drive up Ray's 2.9 Twinplug to Treffen and then drive Steve's 3.6 Monster up there...
THANKS guys... now I AM DEVESTATED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can you bore out a 2.4 T to 3.8????
Cheers,

GONE...MANY, many great ones....
Hi Guys,
after viewing all the pics of the cars and the R Gruppers having fun, I so missed not being there. But as many of you know, this weekend also represents a sad time for me and my family back here. It would be hard to correlate all that fun and good camaraderie with the anniversary of what happened whilst I was away last year.
I am sure I will be able to make it next year and satisfy the Gruppemeisters requirement to participate in R Gruppe events as will Clyde. Hopefully we can drag along a few other TYP901 members to enjoy the event. We'll be looking for some fast rides to satisfy our "need for speed". I am sure we wont be disappointed.
So any thoughts as to where you guys will be next year ?
Phil Lack

Yeah, I tried it 5 minutes after watching Thorsten's bottle opener technique... but the top bottle opened first!! Decided from then on to leave it to the German Master!!
Throwing my thanks on the heap for all who put so much effort into this FANTASTIC weekend!! And to those who karted my lily-white midwestern ass around too! - Ray C, TKO, Kent Moore, Mad Kuh Paul Kramer, Bob Tilton.
Perhaps the most entertaining ride was Sunday on the way up to the San Jose Airport in the Black Volvo Bar/Wagon. An accident closed the 101 and sent us on an unplanned mountain excursion/mad dash to make a flight on time. Just picture Randy Stenson shouting real-time Hertz GPS info on upcoming switchbacks to a heroic Curt Egerer, doing his best Walter Rohrl "dancing feet" impersonation. All the while, me bouncing from door to door in the flat-as-a-board back seat... AND, the dude TRYING HARD to keep up behind us in the Subaru STI laughing his ass off!!
