Early Headrest Question

Most of the references (old pictures, Johnson, et al) state or show that the 356 head rest was the only one available for the ‘67S.

I have seen a number of pictures of ‘67esses with the later head rest found on the 68.

Is there a cut off date (approximate)?

My ’67 was build on or around 09\19\66 according to COA and was optioned with “2 headrests”. Which would be correct, or are they interchangeable?

I don't remember where/when I heard this, but do all 68 seat frames have the mounts for the later-style headrests, or was it a transition year with earlier cars having the 356-style and later cars with the later-style? Can you identify which by feeling for the mounts through the seat covers?
