It is truly a very sad day, Milt has always been one of my heros! Watching him back in the day at Riverside in the late 60's & 70's. He was a hard charger and true talent.
Although I only knew him casually, my fondess memory was about a year and a half ago at California Speedway. Chuck Miller and Milt were behind me as we chased a 962 during the lunch time free for all. When we finished as Chuck and I got out of our cars Milt was all smiles after his ride with Chuck. I told Milt it was a true high point in my life to be on the track with a 962 and Milt Minter behind me as a witness. He just laughed.
Milt, I'm sure you have gone to a better place but, you will be truly missed!
All the best!

P.S. Sam thanks for posting the picture of Milt and me!
Here're a whole bunch of Milt photos to enjoy:

I am pround to say, that I have a personally signed photo of him leading Follmer to victory at Laguna Seca. Both hands in the air! Victory for car # 0.
A very sad day, indeed. I have seen Milt race many times, but circumstances never led to me ever getting a chance to meet him. I heard you guys talking about Milt so many times, meeting someone of his accomplishment with the same name became a curiosity. Sadly, not for me, but for Milt's wife, family (if any, I don't know) and friends, I now will never get a chance to speak with the man. I wonder what he would have thought of talking to another "Milt?" We don't get the chance to meet that many with our name.
And this goes to demonstrate that you should never put off what you desire. My shortcoming for not trying harder to introduce myself.
God bless, and God speed to his new home at the perfect track of eternal length. The empty seat sort of says it all....
Came across this bio on Milt recently:

And to think that I lived in Sanger, CA, for a couple of years in the 70s and never even knew it was his home town...Originally Posted by CurtEgerer

Tom,
You might of missed'm anyway...
Milt and Mellisa lived in a couple of other places through the years... but mostly in Sanger CA.
In the early 70's they lived in my town, Reseda CA. .... luck would have it that I lived in North Hollywood at the time...
Cheers,
