    Venting a Porsche Battery

Does anyone have a picture of the proper set up to vent a replacement Porsche battery. The vent hole is on the side of the battery but the vintage tubing my dealer gave me has the tube coming off the top and an adapter to connect to the hose. If I need to vent from the side what adapter works the best to connect the battery to fish tank tubing to vent the gases through the floor but still fit in the battery box. The vintage set up of the large rubber elbow does not have anyway to connect to the battery.

Did that adapter come with the battery to connect the tubing? All I have is a plug in the vent hole.

It's just a tee connection. Did not come with battery. No

Thanks, it looks like your battery has an adapter to connect the yellow hose to the t piece. My battery just has a hole and nothing I can mount a hose on. Trying an elbow piece from one of the aftermarket places, see how that goes. But once again thanks for the picture

+1 on the aftermarket 90-degree elbow piece to plug into your battery, and then your vent hose can attach to that, as it allows the vent tubing to route out of the battery box without any kinks. Dorman (item #924-254) has a battery vent kit available on Amazon that includes an elbow and some tubing, it's also available at the usual auto parts stores, or Sierra Madre offers just the elbow if that's all you need.

Thank you, I ordered the elbows from Sierra Madre and I have some tubing and adapters, so I should be okay.

The adapters used to come with the battery? You would get one plug and one elbow. I would plug one side and vent from the other, I think there was more room at the forward side of the box due to the slant of the opening. The adapter used a smaller diameter hose than you show, but at any rate I drilled a hole in the plastic bulkhead plug and ran the vent hoses thru that.

No elbows with the battery anymore, bought after market ones. The dealer gave me an older kit from the 80's but the battery end of the hose was much too big of a diameter. Hopefully get the part next week and be up and running. Once again thanks to all on the forum
