My Kardex for my '65 says "Islinger, Mannheim." Were they a dealer, distributor, or other?
Thanks,
John

Hi John,
Here is what I found in the internet:
"Porsche's tradition at the Mannheim location goes back to the time shortly after the Second World War. In 1949, the Ernst Islinger automobile trading group was one of the first to receive a trading and service mandate at its then headquarters in Mannheim-Käfertal. At the end of 2002, Porsche Deutschland GmbH took over the Mannheim Porsche Center and from then on ran it as a branch. In mid-2008 the branch went to Penske Automotive Europe GmbH and has since operated under the name Porsche-Zentrum Mannheim Penske Sportwagenzentrum GmbH."

I hope it helps.

Thanks Claudius!

On a Kardex, the Handler is the distributor. The distributor is responsible for a large group of dealers in a regional group. Perhaps up to 60 could report to a distributor. Very rarely a Kardex would note a dealer, mostly as a first owner.
