Serious offers will be accepted for this ultra rare 1972 brochure?

Sorry, but that brochure shows not the Carrera RS, it shows the 2,2 model range. The 2,2S was offered in it´s standard version as a lightweight for homologation in motorsport to realize low weight. Also it was delivered with a 110 liter fuel tank. To get the S as a street version it was necessary to order the standard interior as a "M-Ausstattung". Some details were realized later in the Carrera 2,7RS.

Don't be sorry, I noted that it was printed in '71 for the '72 edition. What it was to become was the Carrera that's why it's called a "Konzept". So are these common? Who else has one?

    Hmm!?

The 73 Carrera RS had a dedicated brochure so it is a stretch to link this item specifically that model in the way that’s being done in the posting title and description.

I have an original Carrera RS brochure in English that came with my RS. It’s certainly not the one being sold here.

If looking to coming 911.744 are other factory brochures that show a lineup of cars that includes a 2.7 with some of the features. Work on a production 911 2.7S was underway but aborted when the new direction was set by senior management to make a lightweight homolgaton special for 73 race season. The 911.744 that became known as the Carrera RS.

Porsche had over a number of years made various attempt to homologate a lighter-weight 911 but the stripped-out offerings hadn’t sold well. The model year 73 Carrera RS was pivotal in the history of the 911 because it was a deliberate move to make the 911 model the factory’s racing focus. With the 911 having been observed by the new boss struggling to compete in a race against other marques it became an imperative when the FIA rules changed at a meeting hosted by the FiA’s British ASN the Royal Automobile Club in London. The rule changes decided upon were set to marginalise cars like the 908, 917. Shifting focus to production-based racing away from the specialised factory racing machines that for Porsche had brought success. From memory that FiA meeting in London only happened in March of 1972. The significance of the success of the Carrera RS special programme that was in large parts done outside the normal product development and operations process is that the 911 was moved front and centre of the factory race programmes in a way that was quite different to the recent past.

The 911.744 aka Carrera RS wasn’t even conceived in 71. A friend has a lovely 911 S Sport 2.2 — the lightened form only sold in low numbers which was a disappointment in homologation terms — but to be clear his car is not a 73 Carrera RS. He knows the difference more than most having also owned two lovely 73 Carrera RS in M471 Sport configuration.

In my opinion what is offered for sale on ESR should stand on its own merits with accurate statements; why make what seem to be tenuous claims to the 73 Carrera RS?

Folks on this board like Karim are much more knowledgable than me on brochures of era.
This seems a nice brochure and may have some value — I don’t much care about that. Porsche reused material for example I also have “The Porsche 911 Concept”, but it’s in English language. Printed different date:

It seems there is sometimes a tendency to append the name Carrera RS to stuff offered for sale; statements that don’t always stand up to scrutiny.

Biturm959 and I have raised questions about how this item is being represented with respect the 1973 Carrera RS.

Isn’t this brochure simply describing the 911 concept — covering the 911 production range — at that point in time?

Unsurprising there is a picture or two of the S in lighter-weight configuration that Porsche tried push in the way that Biturm959 explains — there are threads on the forum about this. Not new news that Porsche had made a number of attempts to sell lighter-weight 911 but that the uptake was low.

I don’t care if brochure rare, valuable I’m questioning how it is represented.

I’m not in the market as mentioned and shown I have a version of “ the 911 concept” brochure in English.

Since you ask, there also seems to be one of these brochures listed on eBay USA in Italian language. I haven’t got both yours and this in hand to compare but seem similar but I’d expect Italian or English is rarer than German:

    Not mine. No affiliation

If it is rare and valuable as brochure in its own right and on its own merits then that’s fine by me but I think it’s reasonable on ESR question the strong and repeated assertions in the FS postings with respect to the 73 Carrera RS. For example the title of your thread : “1971 Porsche Carrera RS Konzept Brochure

    Seriously?

It would appear that it is a Konzept brochure that was printed in 1971. The cars do not feature the outside oil filler door. It may be the first time Porsche showed the RS style door panel, missing glove box, and other items making it a lightweight model . Are there earlier brochures showing this?
