Scott,
That badge looks like 3 of the 4 orange bars have had a "touch up" can even see the touch up has spread beyond the bar area too with some orange in the gold areas.

In response to 9-E-lovin:
I once found a badge that was stored decades indoors, I was surprised to find it with gold on it, as all the others I had seen looked like polished brass. (As the gold was very thin and just wears away, especially with polishing)
This photo shows the different gold compared to the plating.
This is a photo I took today of the “gold”
This was an original badge I had that was remarkable in preservation.
I did polish out the gold around the horse, it was cloudy. It was slightly worn then. So it is brass around the horse.
The rest of the gold was in very good condition, and was far more gold than I expected….when I compare it to my other orig badges.
This badge has repair on three of the orange bars, and I clear coated to preserve the gold.
(I chose what I thought would protect the gold, and keep its look).
They were very gold, not like a mirror, but a definite gold.
The others had lost that luster. This one the plating was near perfect.
I did polish the others at some time, but I was polishing brass.
I have 3 (really 4) originals, if you want to buy one, contact me and I can send you photos.

The ‘for sale’ badge is not an original orange bar badge. The giveaway is the first letter ‘t’ in Stuttgart.

Here are a few original smooth (no pebbling) back badges I have. The earliest badges had short pins and a curious appendage between the front legs. You could (mis)spend days studying variations. When I said shiny gold I meant glossy finish as opposed to a semi-flat finish, originals were not glossy gold. Gold doesn’t tarnish, just gets dirty.
Any of them for sale? My '66 is in need
For reference.
