Use it every day. I remember when it was 6 bucks a can, now about $36!

Not sure if you're allowed to buy that in the Peoples Republik of California.

Nasty Car 's settling in nicely. Starts easily, seems to get smoother with the miles. Added maybe a quart of oil since she came home, but despite all the propaganda about Mg cases being leaky, this engine has an ooze or two . . . but turns out most of that's prolly from the oil cooler on the engine --- not the case
Something to take care of at the next Big Service
Gave her a bath --- 1st one this year . . . then took her to TLG for a tune + some dyno time . . .

185 to the wheels (!) . . .
. . . and Marco thinks there's another 10-15 left . . .
. . . but I'll settle for reliable

that sucks...
would an insulation pad have prevented this.
a freshly painted car
1972 MFI that needed/got fine tuned did this
i had the paint on hand so i was able to strip and repaint
It did not do it after that
On the bright side, 185 hp to the wheels is astonishing! Maybe BHP vs DIN hp?

It might have
Paint job is 14 years old now, and 's held up fine, all this time. I'm thinking this coulda happened during all the dyno runs
Marco said the car took a LONG time to get hot. So with the car sitting + running hard without air moving over the muffler . . . this coulda happened
Not a huge deal. I need to remove the front bumper horns, anyway, so the bumper 'll some attention, too, I imagine. Doing the license panel would be a two-fer. Maybe look for something to insulate, then?
You think? I'm not so sure
I was hoping for some improvement, but I was pleased with the number. Shows what a 'little' 2.2 can do, huh?
But I also think Porsche is one of those companies that, as a rule, 'under promises, then over delivers'
In other words, their horsepower claims are the least amount one can expect
I thought that going to the extra effort of matching volumes AND flows in the cylinder heads, then balancing everything, would have an impact --- in terms of driveability and power delivery
But I think the biggest difference? . . .
. . . was Marco
He found the Right People to do the things he couldn't do himself . . . then built this engine with his own two hands. Tuned it, too
I have a lot of respect for what Porsche built and engineered, here. But Marco restored it, brought it all back, and now keeps it alive
And I thank him every time I see or write or talk to him
Without Marco, I could not do what I do with the Nasty Car
All I can say is . . .

Well the 2.2S is rated for 180 hp, so 185 at the wheels translates to ~210 at the flywheel or something? That's really good for an otherwise stock -- but carefully built -- motor.
