I just did this on 2 of my cars. Lay out the new rubber under the sun flat like its going to be installed. It makes the job easier when wrapping it around the glass. Silicone spray helps as well in the install.

do the whole job in the sun,
don't do it in winter

use excessive dish soap and water all over

put masking tape in needed places....like make a center-line...to you know where the center is.

put the aluminum trim on first...with excessive soap and water. then tape the trim down...

get a big table or a bunch of tires for a table...with large beach towels...

get a chair to sit in, while you move around putting the aluminum trim in.

use the correct rear view mirror pad...which is black, not grey

i use a nylon rope inside the rubber channel....and that is super soaped up, as well

Great suggestions. I found a 1/4" nylon cord works well. I also purchased some plastic trim tools (helpful in all kinds of repairs) that eases the metal windshield trim into place.

Totally agree with finding middle of gasket(s), having it warm really does help. I have found inserting the upper assembly (glass and molding) into the upper pinch weld and then finish with the bottom seems to really help. The cord was overlapped at the bottom.

A piece of wood to push the trim in the corners and some dum dum for the same corners just in case.
