. . . interesting grouping
Now --- imagine stuffing a Cobra motor . . . in the Little One . . .
. . . which is exactly what they did --- almost 60 years, ago

. . . requisite Porsche content --- + more my speed. 1300 cc + crash-box + 16s = who needs horse-power? . . . I'd have my hands full just getting it down the road! Now THAT's entertainment
Surprised by how many Splitties I saw this week-end

More and more --- cars like this look like the future to me . . .
. . . small, sleek, light
Mold this shape outta plast --- er, carbon fibre . . . then just add a coupla hub-motors, and? . . .
. . . off we go!
Talked about this before . . .

I know-I know --- Porsche pays the bills with big, slick, expensive, 'sophisticated' stuff . . .
. . . but these are the cars that brought me here, to Porsche, in the first place
And when gasoline goes away? . . . could prolly run this on mouthwash!

. . . 'nother 400-or-so pics to go, though, so . . .
. . . gonna be a while

. . . why I go to car shows --- early . . .
Not sure if it was the admission prices, or just COVID-related, but the crowd here definitely seemed down to me . . . like, way. The 'feel' was pretty different, too --- I mean, check-out the demographic. I'm always reading about car prices + auction results, but the audience here seemed less-than enthusiastic about any of that . . . although definitely better-heeled
Anyway, with the crowd the way it was, I had a better look at all the cars then usual
Refreshments were disappointing, though. You'd think for that up-scale price-of-admission they'd up-scale the eats, as well --- but nope. I won't do Bud-Light at gun-point --- and no Pepsi or root beer . . . so I just dehydrated
Seriously? --- at $4.50 for water, I'll look for a garden hose

. . .
As late as I was, they were still un-wrapping + placing cars when I got there. It is a guilty pleasure of mine to turn-up at the a$$-crack o' dawn and catch some of these buses toddling off to their spot on the lawn, although some --- like a Bugatti I came across, years ago . . . are pretty amazing to listen to
Anyway, some Hispano-Suizas and Mercedes (before -Benz). Spares stacked in/on the back make these look a LOT sportier, I think. And just check-out those closures --- 'specially on the Hispano and the Benz . . . neisenteit
Not exactly my first choices for 'date cars' . . . but it would be kinda fun helping the Ladies get in/out
Also --- no plastics to shatter or electronics to go boing after the warranty 's up

Mercedes-(with)Benz SS. Pretty sexy compared to their usual stuff. Reminds me of Ralph Lauren's SSKL . . . just longer
Coupla Duesies. If I'm not mistaken, those big 'ol side-pipes = super-charged? Silver car I think I've seen here, before?
Almost got ker-smisched by a passing (+ almost totally silent) 540K special roadster . . .
. . . only at Pebble
...................
. . . 230 SSK
K --- I've heard of 540s and 380s . . . but I've never seen/read/heard of dis. And here I thought MBz only built BIG sports cars
This is more my sort. Check-out the rope-wound steering wheel; guarantees a good grip. And dual spares stacked in back --- all mounted + inflated + good-to-go. Coupla wacks of a hammer and any flat gets changed muy pronto. Fook the space-savers. And buh-bye AAA while you're at it. And love dem storage boxes, too --- paniers? . . . trunklets? But what's with that rear license plate carrier-thingy? Big enough to hold a week's-worth o' mail or what?
Looks like an awesome little tourer
Me want

Cars in 'no-excuses' black
1st up = Bugatti
Odd profile, this --- while the rest of the car looks like it's lunging forward, that top just sorta juts/disturbs the whole process. But what really strikes me is the way all the sharp creases off the front get transformed into smooth rounded contours at the back. And looking at these photos --- do those coves look like they're painted in a contrasting dark gray? And the detailing is exquisite; look how that windshield gets set into the bodywork; no rubber or trim pieces to hide/fill the gaps. I mean, these things are built like works of art --- and have some wild machinery under there, too . . . like straight-eights with engine-turned everything. I could crawl all day over this thing and still be surprised by the details
540K Special Roadster. Somehow, black just suits this car soooo well. There's more to see in terms of trim --- and it's spectacular . . . like that trim-piece that runs on the outside of the fenders, flowing from front to back . . . one single 8-foot piece of polished metal. And then there's all the other trim-bits --- polished streamers on the sides, rear --- even the running boards (if you can call 'em that). Talk about being in motion standing still
Then there's this 540K. Totally different take. 'Autobahn Kurier.' Virtually all the trim gone, here --- save for some quick licks on the lower sides + hood + fender tops . . . but what a profile! Mass of curves at the back, fenders + hulking trunk flowing from a rather compact cab, with a tiny haughty rear widow --- as if to say 'what's behind is of no importance.' Even black wheels, with 7 shiny little bits --- wheel weights? . . . flashing on each rim. If looks could kill
..................
. . . 1927 Mercedes SS Something Cabriolet
Unusual car. Some manner of gator supplied the interior --- even the insets around the door pools (makes me wonder what part that came from?) . . . which is what caught my eye. And just check-out all the lumber. Concave coves + disappearing exhaust pipage w/(more)gators behind the front wheels = ahead-of-its-time/weird. Sporty rear dual spares tucked under a canvas stack that reminds me of a college kid bringing home his futon
Only at Pebble . . . or maybe Miami
