My (former) 500 010 is an earlier body number than 021 -- and it was Ferry Porsche's car! perhaps 021 is the first to carry the "S" suffix to the body number, but it definitely was NOT the first 911S Targa!

I was confused when I read this thread, as I know of your old car and it’s current owner, and thought it was the very first.

It sounds like it may be the first sold to the general public in Germany. Ie not the first or perhaps even the first produced for general sale ( as usually early ones are demonstrators and not sold off until later). It is a real art to write a description that sounds like one thing but if carefully read means something else not quite as special

I agree!! Not that Don was being deceptive, but 500021 had engine 961021; that is 901/02 engine 1021. Also, if they are going by Kardex dates, then it really means nothing since Kardex dates (and CoA dates by extension) are NOT completion dates. According to the Kardex for 21, the car was invoiced on the 24th, but delivered on the 23rd.

Not sure about original exhausts in ‘67 but this is just how my new Porsche Classic exhaust came out of the box.

Something unusual on this as I have 500099S on my targa list with date of 1/27/67. Must have built a lot of cars in four days. Could it be that if he was sent to a dealer as a demonstrator nothing was dated until car was eventually sold? But then again 500018 alleges 1/31/67 on its COA.

Like I said, you cannot take the dates on the Kardex or CoA as anything close to being the completion date. The date of delivery to the first owner has almost no relation to production other than it is later.
