    Ding ding! Winner.

I've been selling the idea that the undercroft will make an ideal place for the little bloke and his mates to hang out away from the main house...Billiard table, dart board, big drop-down Scaletrix set etc... She believes I will just fill it with 'junk cars'

I dunno, what I like - she hates and vice versa.

Quite surprising the divergence of priorities between the sexes. It came back to me from one of the parents at school, that one of the mums couldn't believe my wife would let me build the garage I have at home.

I hope you find what you're looking for. Perhaps you need to sneak up on her. Find a place that you can open up downstairs later. Slowly grow a garage...

or ask for forgiveness rather than permission!

I say John is on a good negotiation strategy. Ask for a 10 car garage and end up agreeing on 5

I'm usually in a perpetual phase of apology and begging forgiveness

Just got a picture of the cage painted up - I asked for satin black as I don't really want to make it a feature of the car. The new rules up here in Qld also prevent you from registereing a car with a full cage, so should it find its way onto the road for any brief periods, I don't want the cage standing out...

Cage arrived last night. I put it in for a test fit today... The 68 chassis has some lugs and trim fixing points that interfere with the base plates that need to be welded on, so there's a bit of cutting and grinding to be done. All the black body deadener and tar patches are still in the interior of the car. I have been putting off this horrible job, but it will have to be done before the cage goes in permanently.

I am very pleased with the ease of which this cage has gone in. Everything fits as it should. I know that weld-in units are superior to bolt-ins, and with cages you get what you pay for; but I think this particular cage strikes an excellent balance and for $2800 delivered to Brisbane I think it goes a long way to keeping cost reasonable. Here's the link to the manufacturer http://www.agi-precision.com.au/ and they were very good to deal with.

Some photos - sorry about the bad lighting, but I only had my ipad... And the dodgy old Momo seat is just for referencing.
