Good size choice for your application.
All the response here is good.
The short answer is the 195/65..We don't use the P1 so I can't comment. There are many others in that size to choose from.
We use from 165 for show cars to 205/60 for racing.
Short tires are acceptable and fun on Porsches but taller (than stock) ones frequently interfere with the turning...and loose acceleration...and make the speedo off in a bad way.
Shop for the 195/65 in something soft...not long lasting as they usually don't preform as well.

A question of your goals here, Rich. The 185/65 front, 195/60 rear setup handles considerably better than stock 185/70 tires. They require a different alignment because they have a modern profile. They're an inch shorter than the 185/70, so the car is immediately 1/2 inch lower, and the extra tread width is immediately apparent in the cars handling.
The downside is that they don't look authentic; the slightly bulgy and shorter modern sidewalls, lower height, and extra width are pretty obvious to a practiced eye - the car has a more modern stance.

    Looks like 185 70 to 195 65 is a <1% drop in circumference

Marginal benefit of driving slower than speedo!

Hey Rich let me know if your speedo is within 1%. Mine is all stock and almost 3% off.
BTW Tire company to tire company varies more than 1%.

I'm quite sure it is not accurate to 1%, indeed, it is currently sitting in a box, over ten miles from the gear box which is 2 miles from the bodywork! I was more interested if the difference was 5%-10%.

Hoping to get car back on the road in September..

Paint should be on again in July.

    Rich,

Vintage Tyres in Beaulieu, Hants normally have Vredstein 185/70 15's in stock and at very reasonable prices.

Use a gps system to verify your speed. My 3.2 Carrera speedo is about 10% too optimistic. My F150 lightning speedo is bang on.

Ahhhh the sixties... I envision myself one early Saturday morning wearing plaid shorts, black shoes with white socks smoking a cigarette heading to the hardware store to buy a bag of nails.
SWB cars are an acquired taste however once acquired theirs no turning back.

    185/70 15's by Vredestein

I too like 185/70 15's by Vredestein as they are reasonably priced compared to the Michelins and still offer the vintage tread pattern. Name: image.jpg
