My son has a gigantic BMW store. They check every trade on Carfax before they give the customer an estimate on the trade-in value. He said it's amazing how many people lie about their cars. The typical response:

"You must have entered the wrong VIN"

"I've heard that Carfax is not all that accurate."

"There has to be a mistake - do you know how to contact Carfax direct?"

He said it just goes on all day long. Sellers do lie. Amazing.
