Next week the Dutch F 1 Grand Prix will be held at Zandvoort

In today’s local paper there is an article with pictures from 1965.
In those days the race track didn’t have boxes for the crews so the F 1 cars took the public roads to local repair shops.
Credits to the photographer. The pictures with the article are from Arie Koper, a then 12 year old kid who was supposed to run an errand for his teacher but made other plans when he got a chance.

    Thumbs up

Eric, not sure about Stewart and the other...
Stewart and the team usually had all things with the L&M tobacco logo on them... Could be though

As to when the photo was shot... It has to be '71, there was no STP 917-10 before, and unfortunately there was no Siffert after that Oct.

As to where the photo was shot...

Siffert and the 917 only competed in 6 out of the 10 CanAm's in '71 (and still came in 4th in the points)

Armed with my friend Pete Lyons definitive reference CAN-AM, he supplied us with one photo with the same racer's tape pattern as we see in your photo.......... Road America, Elkhart Lake Wis. 8/29/71, he came in 2nd to Revson in the M8F.... I'm assuming that even a shoestring team as theirs was, they probably repaired the fender before the next race at Donnybrooke...

BTW - By coincidence I was at that Elkhart race on the way back from a cross country trip ....

    Chuck,

Thanks for filling in the back story.

I found a version of the picture with a caption that identifies the group as

Jo Siffert, Edi Wyss, and Hugo Schibler

Here are a few more photos from the period in the book about Edi Wyss The Swiss Wiz

    and Hugo Shibler
    Eric,

I met Hugo Shibler about 20 years ago up at Kevin Buckler's Racer's Group when the shop was still at Sears Point Raceway...

    I wrote about it here:

I asked Kevin about Hugo about 10 years ago. He said he had lost contact with him...

I truly hope Mr Shibler is still with us...

    Cheers,

    Chuck,

What a great connection you have to the photo of Siffert, Wyss, and Schibler.

There is a Hugo Schibler in Panama City, Panama according to Facebook. I’m not sure if it is the same person, but it is possible.

I haven't seen this photo before - Siffert's March on a trailer outside a Porsche shop in Grand Lancy, Geneva, Switzerland:
