    911 Vehicle Weight

    Interesting figures form a recent vehicle weigh-in done locally, here in SoCal . . .

    2359 . . . . . 1970 914-6 GT, 3/4 tank gas (100 ltr), fiberglass front and rear deck lids and bumpers, metal GT flares, no spare
    2376 . . . . . 1970 911T, 5/8 tank gas, Spare tire in place. No radio, vent blower motor, rear seats. Small Lightweight Odyssey battery.
    2436 . . . . . 1971 911T, 1/2 tank gas, Spare tire in place
    2452 . . . . . 1973 911T RS clone, 1/2 tank gas, Spare tire in place, Fiberglass Duck tail, Front and Rear bumpers, Roll Bar, L/W seats, RS Carpet, No rear seats
    2464.5 . . . . 1973 911T, 3/4 tank gas, Spare tire in place
    2473 . . . . . 1970 911S, 1/4 tank gas, fiberglass duck tail, Spare tire in place
    2483.5 . . . . 1970 911T, 3/4 tank gas, Spare tire in place

    Note the differing amounts of fuel. I'm figuring gasoline at 6.2lbs/gal, so you can go back and twiggle these numbers for a better comparison . . . but you get the idea.

    Some of the things that stand out for me . . .

    1) 914s aren't that light!

    2) Older doesn't necessarily denote Lighter

    3) Compare these figures to Porsche's homologated weights with the FIA . . .

    4) A 964 is how much heavier than an Early 911?

    Wow.

    I don't have my Owner's Manual handy but the published weight figures I've seen on-line quote 2390 lbs/1085 kg for a '70. I weighed my car on a commercial truck scale, locally --- 2360 lbs/1070kg.

    Curious what kinds of actual measured weights people have for their cars.
