    1968 SWT brake question

I have a 1968 SWT 911 that has the original brakes on it. I plan on rebuilding the entire system but would like to add vented rotors correct for the year. I understand from sources here that the only difference between the regular 911 and S brakes was a spacer and longer through bolts to accomodate the thicker, vented rotor. Porsche doesn't have any of the parts, spacers, etc. available for the 1968 "S" calipers, does anyone have the specifics (washer size, bolt length, etc.) of how I can properly backdate my calipers to "S" specs? Thanks in advance, Mark

If it is simple as adding the spacer, I would be surpised. The spacer is set up with a hole and a relief around the hole for a rubber o-ring to seal the halves if you were thinking of making them.

Do a search for neunelfer on this board. Calipers are his business!

neunelfer does sell a spacer kit for the rear narrow calipers. you use a 944 rotor with a slightly reduced diameter. there is no fluid passage between the halves, they use a crossover tube. also, the original wide calipers were 38mm bore, the narrow ones 35mm, but that would only matter to the purist. at the front, there were early wide castings, but I 'think' you can use later, 69-73 M calipers.
