    Just make sure it's a 55W/60W bulb.

Thank you everyone for jumping in. I didn't know what I have and just read the manual. There is a bag full of light bulbs somewhere and it will be located, and I will purchase some of the bulbs.

I called the parts counter at Napleton Porsche about the sealed beam headlights. They are still available, NOS, for $404.30 each. That was one big gulp. A stop at Napleton was on the list of things to do for tomorrow.

    Thank you so much!!!

Jim, you are correct, the lights had to have been changed long ago. There are four sets of headlights in the basement. One of the sets must be the original sealed beam headlights. If my husband changed the lights to H-4, he must have had a good reason to do it. I won't change it.

I hope it is not that expensive.

Yesterday, the recommended bulbs were purchased. There were two old Sylvania bulbs in the car, but the packages were opened and they will not be used.

I looked for receipts but couldn't find anything. Most of the old, faded receipts just have part numbers and not a description. Not going there. This morning, taking the 911 to a "careful" Porsche friend to change the bulb and look at the lights.

The 911 is occasionally driven at night. When I drove into Chicago for the photo shoot, it was dark out, the lights were on, and the brights were flipped on. Very glad that happened. Next weekend, the 911 is going to a concours, and will be driven down Thursday night.

PM me your address and I'll send you a bulb. Us Sepia Brown 911 owners have to stick together. Yup, Frank, it is a 55/60.

    Regards

    Jim

Those look a lot like Cibie H4's, a direct replacement for the US sealed beam. Most everyone changed the sealed beam out almost immediately. It was easy for the state inspectors to overlook those as a sealed beam light.
Do not touch the bulb while replacing, the oils on your fingers will cause it to fail, I always clean them with some Isopropyl alcohol when installing, just in case.

    Dusty Buckets

Things are a bit hectic, summer vacation is over, back to work,
and trying to prep the 911 for a concours this Saturday.

But, the light bulbs were successfully changed thanks to everyone's help.
The correct bulbs were installed, and the mechanics wore gloves to do it.
    No problems with the screws.
It took two guys, one held the lamp part while the other did something.
    They were so careful.

(The information about the headlights was printed out and shared.)

Larry asked, "This is a concours car?"
    "Yes?"
"These buckets are really dusty. When was the last time you cleaned them?"
Well, never. Can you please wipe them down?"

It has to be at least 20 years, maybe more, since the lights were changed.
