    Vintage Skis

Doing some cleaning and came across my fathers downhill skis~'75; how would you guys get rid of these? Craigslist? Or is there large demand for used ski rack ornaments?

    Ideas?

    Thanks,
    -Andrew

There is absolutely NO DEMAND for old-style skis. When I started snowboarding, I tried to sell my skis - GREAT Volkl racing skis...could not get $5 for them....

Andrew - Scott Hansen is looking for some vintage skis to put on the ski rack on his 911.

I've got a bunch of old racing skis I've collected over the years. I plan to make a set of Adirondack chairs out of them, using the skis instead of the wood planks.

Thanks for the tip Curt! If he's nice enough to me he could have these snazzy boots too!

Any Dynamic VR17s? Those skis live in a parallel universe with the 911s! Don't cut them up...please!

No, I would never cut a pair of VR17s! Those and the K2 VO Slaloms (AKA: 2x4's with edges) were my favorite racing skis for sure. Well, before they invented cheater skis anyway.

Curt, we all know Volkl are the ONLY skis...or WERE the only skis, when they were still made in Germany, and before they got FAT!

I will admit to being a 100% convert to Volkl skis about 15 years ago. They really are the Porsche of skis. For some reason, never tried them back in the old straight side-cut long-ski days. I still have my Spaulding Squadra Corse 223cm DH and 215cm Super G skis in the collection (wow, my knees hurt just typing those lengths ).

A few pics I found the other day that I took in 1975 at the Pro Ski race in Aspen:

Great pictures, I remember Hank Kashiwa (sp?) was the big pro of that era, with his Hanson boots. The big skis during the Early S era were skis like Kneissl White Stars, Fischer Alu or Superglass, Rossignol Strato, Spalding Sideral and the great VR17! Volkl had the Portillo and the Wedeln and later came out with the Zebra but did so-so in FIS skiing. In later years they became the ski to have.........but, hey, this isn't the 993 Registry!
