    24 Hours Spa-Francorchamps Race

Porsche took revenge on BMW for the Nordschleife 24 Stunden Rennen.

997RSR first and second overall (and GT2). Joerg Bergmeister and Wolf Henzler among the winning team, Patrick Long in the runner-up crew.

BMW did salvage third place overall after leading overall by a wide margin for 23 hours and 20 minutes before a toe-rod broke in the front suspension and the car went off track into the gravel. (BMW was first and second in GTN, for pre-homologation GT2 cars)

Porsche also won GT3 class, beating the Audi R8s and Ford GTs. The winning Porsche 997GT3-R was one of the few to stay out of crashes and have no mechanical trouble.

Not only were Bergie and Henzler in the winning car with Martin Ragginger; Porsche factory shoe Romain Dumas also co-drove. Romain becomes the first driver since Luigi Chinetti in 1949 to be the overall winner of both the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the 24 Hours of Spa in the same year... How cool is that?

While not in the same year, Patrick Long has won 24 Hours of LeMans, 24 Hours of Daytona, 12 Hours of Sebring, and the Petit Le Mans.

There were 6 Porsche factory drivers out of the top 8 podium finishers.

Patrick Long has been a class winner at Sebring, Daytona, and Le Mans. Nothing against Pat, but class wins aren't quite the same as overall victory.

This year, Porsche factory driver Romain Dumas won both the Le Mans and Spa 24-hour races overall. He also has previous overall victories at Sebring and three at the Nurburgring 24.

In addition, this year former Porsche factory driver Mike Rockenfeller won both the Le Mans and Daytona 24-hour races overall. Romain was in a GT car this year at Daytona and suffered from a bit of bad luck to finish 9th in class.

Yes, nothing against Dumas. I liked watching him in the RS Spyders.

They are all way better than me.
