I am curious about your comment "even if that's not what it's really called".
Here is an early Kardex, and it is labeled as such in the lower left corner. Kardex has been the name or part of the name of companies tracing back to Rand Ledger founded in 1898, which were closely associated with the development of the index card as a common business data storage device. While Kardex 70 years ago made the warranty index cards for Porsche, today it is still active:

    . . .
As you pointed-out, 'kardex' is an actual company --- and their products' use has became so widespread that their name has become a synonym for their product . . . kinda like 'coke' and 'xerox' and 'rolodex' and 'kleenex'

    Somethin' 'bout those 'x's, huh?

(I suspect that reference at the lower edge of Porsche's document may actually be Kardex's 'catalogue number' for re-ordering the form)

Anyway, there are other examples of Porsche's document --- some with titles, others with numbers . . . but the earliest examples that I've seen have fahrzeugkarte --- literally 'vehicle card' . . . printed on 'em

    Hey --- I get it . . . people have a hard-enough time just pronouncing 'Porsche' properly, K? . . .

    . . . so I'm guessing 'kardex' seems easier to pronounce . . .

    . . . unless you're German

Short Version = IMO 'kardex' is what we've come to call Porsche's document colloquially . . . but prolly not what Porsche calls it internally

Been taking forever to get all the engine bits done + together. Case is finally fookin' done (= machining + black oxide coating) so now sounds like all that's left is re-habbing the rods and some balancing. Lookin' to finish-up by the end of July

With any kinda luck, I'll get some break-in miles done, this Summer

    Cool

    Rick,

In the 33 years I've owned my car It's been down twice for a total of about a year and a half ...
Once a year after I bought in '89, and again for the engine rebuild in '03

When I finally got back in the car after both of those extended 'time outs' it was like driving brand new, yet familiar, great old car again...

    More adventures to come...

I bought the Carrera while also experiencing Porsche withdrawal waiting for my motor rebuild.
found it by accident while riding my motorcycle trying to console myself...still have it going on 7 years

Too bad man... hopefully it won't be much longer. I'm looking for a 2.2S myself so your thread has been inspiring.

I'm familiar with this waiting game. Trust me. 626 days is nothing!!!

Doing another project right now. Moving very quickly with the same guy. Will post more details later.
