    I have more info for your Thread have been crawling around with a bore scope.
    engine number 900054
    engine cast date 6/65 same as on transmission
    paring number 259
    drivers side casting 901.101.101.01
    passenger side casting 901.101.102.01
    Interesting fan housing number I can find no comparison on the net 901.106.102.6
    I also read on old post of yours on Pelican that there was another pre-production engine 900036? do you know what car that was in?

    Great, thanks for those two. The casting date above should probably be about 64 and 11 or 12 dots. If you can eyeball it, that would help fill in a big gap in my data.

    Update on the engine I had at my engine builder current being prepared as a race engine - but now I might use it my 66 911 (UK RHD car)

    Details of this engine are as follows:-
    Engine number 901514
    901/01
    build number 1414
    casing halves 11
