This, a 901/03" is the detuned "euro" 911T engine and not original to a U.S. 911L. It would have been found in an ROW 1968 911T, no offered in U.S.

    #900490

I just picked this motor up from Craigslist locally (Seattle) today. It has:

    Serial #900490

    Type #901/01

    Production #390

    Case half #553

I can't find the casting date. Where is that located?

    It is hard to find

This should help, on the other side of the case it is in a similar position.

    Allen,

That is where I was looking and it is not there. Was this date cast into the case or stamped. If it is a stamp, I think they moght have missed it on mine.

    Take a look

Scroll up a page back and you will see the location for the other side. The date "stamp" was put into the sand mold before the case was cast I believe.

It should be there unless the very early engines had something different but I don't think so.

    Case date

Use a very strong light and clean with a toothbrush with solvent. it is only about 1/2" around. Look here - and on the mirrored other half.
