The Al to Mg change occured near build #12000

I am aware off that, but wouldn't it be interesting to get the exact number? So when people provide you w/ their numbers and their build number is between 11800-12200 they tell you whether it's an Alu or Mag case since the type number doesn't tell?

Yes, this is certainly part of the research. These are the engine #'s we have to find build #'s for to fully understand this transition:

    Type # ___AL___ ___MG___
    901/02 4080681 4080682
    901/03 2080640 2080641
    901/06 3080371 3080372
    901/07 3180182 3180183
    901/08 4180099 4180100
    901/13 2180107 2180108
    901/14 3280631 3280632
    901/17 3380148 3380149
    901/30 3880004 3880005

Another number worth looking for the the numbers on the case halves showing that the two are a matched pair. It would be interesting to see how high these numbers get, and their relative sequence to the build #'s. Anyone have a photo to illustrate these numbers?
