    Thermo time switch wires

I am now finished with "cleaning" my 71S engine. Most of the electrical wires was self explaining, but the engine had carbs, and now that I have replaced them with the original MFI system, I still have two wires I am not sure about. I know these two wires in the picture(the red/black and the yellow) are for the thermo time switch that is part of the cold start system, but the wires was cut and I am not sure where they go on the switch. The switch has one small connector and one large, which is which?

I could not find the answer by searching this site and not find it in the wire diagram in the 69-71 shop manual.

    Thermo time switch wires

Hi John, the wire location is on the factory color wiring diagram, it's just hard to find, but at any rate the yellow goes to term. G and of course the red/blk. goes then to term. W. I believe the switch is marked on the white ceramic part, but it is hard to see. If you don't have an answer by tomorrow I'll have looked at one by then and let you know.

    Hi Ed

You where right! In the 71 manual I have there are 3 large color diagrams(there are also some small ones for the Webasto etc and some large black and white ones). I am not sure about the difference between the large colored ones, but one seems to focus on lighting and another includes the MFI. In the last one I found #14 to be the "temperature time switch". It has the terminals marked G and W like you describe.
