Thread: MFI oil supply?

  1. #11

    mechanical injection parts

    John and Neil,

I saw the oil pressure sender on eBay, Item number: 230230901326. The listing contains two senders. The one on the left includes the banjo bolt for mechanical injection. You can see the same in my photo in this post.

I bought my oil feed line from PAP-parts.com for $30. You'll also need the two aluminum washers for the banjo connection. The return hose is just a piece of 10mm or 3/8" hose.

If I can hijack this thread - If anyone has any, I am looking for the sheet metal cover over the injection belt and also the duct that goes over the oil cooler.

Can anyone tell me where the hose goes to from the thermostat that is on the top of the injection pump? I know that air from the fan blows into it and the pump compensates for air temperature, but I don't know how it gets the air. Maybe from the heat exchanger flapper somewhere?

    Thanks,

    Bob

    thermostat

The air to the thermostat comes from the small tube that is part of the driver side exhaust system. The driver side sheet metal piece that runs along the side of the engine on MFI cars has a tube welded through it, a hose goes from the heater box to the tube, and then another hose goes from the tube on the enginr side to the thermostat. I may have the sheetmetal.

Thanks. I'm pretty sure I now understand how the air gets to the injection pump thermostat. I've seen the tube in the heat exchanger, so that now makes sense. Does the outlet of the thermostat also have a hose going somewhere?

I would be interested in the sheet metal. If you find that you have, please let me know what you would want (either here or send to ryhe@aol.com).

    Thanks,

    Bob

The exhaust from the thermostat just vents into the engine compartment. I will look for the sheetmetal.

    MFI sheet metal

I found this past week a full set of sheet metal in pretty good shape from a 69E. I've already bead blasted and straigtened and think they'll work out fine. If you find your set, maybe one of the others can use.

    Thank you,

    Bob
