There may be hope. The guy who brought us the original Speedvision and exited stage left soon after it became NASCARvision is working on a new channel for us!

Can we dare to hope? I registered and would switch in a heartbeat.
There was a poster named Matt on Rennlist (Pelican?) 911 board several years ago who worked at Speedvision and warned of the impending doom when the change was about to happen. He said it was going to become Bashcar 24/7 - that's where the money and advertising was.
Bring back Legends of Motorsport, FIA rally, F1 hydroplane, America's Cup, DTM, Reno Air Races, Porsche Cup, Monaco Historics, Formula 1 Decade, A1 vintage Formula racing, Victory By Design, Paris Dakar, Goodwood, Isle of Mann, Top Gear, MotoGP, Pike's Peak.....I'll even watch those tractor trailer rigs racing!!!

I really hope this works out. Although I would miss Unique Whips - those guys are awesome.

One of the major issues for Speedvision was that it was a 'airtime for rent' business model. If you wanted your track event to get on TV you could buy 30 min and be on air. The sanctioning bodies had to buy the airtime and then sell the comercials, that was why you saw so many series sponsors with comercials on the broadcast. If Speedvision could not sell out 24/7 they would buy inexpensive content and sell low $ comercials. The business model did not work. I hope they have a new business model or they will go the same way as Speedvision.
boba i hope there is a different plan.

All my german equipment is either busted or sold...sigh....in the market for a decent non-sunroof tub!!!!!!! Help me get back to autocrossing!!!
Add to my above post, for the sarcastically challenged.
It would be great if they can make the numbers work out this time around, although sadly it might be the case that the group of hardcore roadracing, rally, and the more esoteric forms of racing fan is just not large enough to support a full time channel. I hope that isn't the case and I know that I will be getting flack at home for watching way too much TV if this comes to fruition.

I miss Speedvision. Speed Channel is weak sauce.
On that note, perhaps they need to be more focused on carrying the LIVE events - i.e. car show coverage, (gasp!) Barrett Jackson, Goodwood Revival, etc. - and races as opposed to the traditional "show"-type fare a la Pinks, Unique Whips and American Thunder.

I was just wondering if internet services can supplant cable or satellite channels. I am also disappointed with SpeedTV.
Here is a link to a service, but it looks a little 'dodgy'.

Anybody using such a service?
Last year a friend turned me on to World Championship Sports Network.com. I originally subscribed to get the World Cup Skiing. I've been a ski racing nut since I was a little kid (Mighty Mites, Buddy Werner, etc...) I was pleasantly suprised to discover that there is pretty decent motor racing content as well. Most of the events are archived and you can watch them on demand. The resolution is not great, and you better have a quick connection, but at $4.95 a month, who cares? Check it out at: WCSN.COM
