    Dealer Description:

    - One of the finest original examples extent in near new condition
    - Strikingly specified in black with beige leather sport seats and “S” equipment
    - Just 35,000 original miles
    - Fully matching numbers
    - Exceptionally well maintained and in top order

This 1972 911 T was purportedly bought new by a mid-west doctor, strikingly specified in black with a beige interior with leather sport seats. Further optioned with 15” Fuchs wheels, “S appearance package,” front and rear sway bars as well as tinted glass all around, the 911 T was ideally finished.

The Porsche was bought in December 1981 by PCA member Barry Pipkin of Joplin Missouri with approximately 28,000 miles. Maintenance and registration records from Pipkin’s ownership further document 28,163 miles on 5/31/83 and 30,543 miles on 5/29/85. After several years of enjoyment, the car was put into careful storage in 1991 and remained there until 2008, then passing to Pipkin’s good friend Ken Steven Roberts. Photos from the car’s reappearance show a dusty but exceptionally well preserved 911.

With several other projects in process, Roberts chose not to do anything but clean up the 911, and in 2013 the car was acquired by Bruce Canepa. With just 34,000 miles, the car was treated to nearly $50,000 in significant, though sympathetic recommissioning. Receipts and records on hand highlight the work completed, including repainting of the hood and front and rear bumpers, significant maintenance of the fuel, braking and electrical systems, new consumables as needed, a full tune-up, detail and service of the undercarriage, new tires, an alignment, and a comprehensive detail.

Bought by the current owner in 2013 from Bruce Canepa, the 911 joined a Pacific Northwest collection of postwar sports of exceptional originality and low mileage. Driven minimally, though regularly, since acquisition the car has received a high level of care, both cosmetically and mechanically. This work included a complete tear down and reseal of the original engine in 2022. Additionally, the proper, date coded Fuchs wheels were recently restored by Harvey Weidman and fitted with new, correct tires.

Today the 911 shows just over 35,000 miles and is in exceptional order. This is undoubtedly one of the finest original Porsches we’ve had the pleasure to represent. The originality and overall condition are exceptional and the car drives as one would expect from such a low mileage and well sorted example.

The car is complete with its original toolkit and jack, owner’s manual set, spare keys, original touch up paint and a significant file of maintenance records. This is truly is a benchmark 911 and one that would impress even the most well-heeled enthusiasts.

    Auction Description:

This desirable 911 came off the Stuttgart-based Porsche production line during November of 1972, as a 1973 model-year US-market mechanically fuel-injected (MFI) T Coupe. Inspecting the car today, one will find what appears to be original factory-applied Sepia Brown paint in jambs and fender wells, indicating that this well-preserved car left the factory in the same era-evoking color in which it appears today. The comprehensive history file accompanying the sale of this Porsche contains many handwritten notes by its previous owner Jack Wallace, a retired NASA engineer from Cupertino, California, who would own the car from the mid-1980s until 2023. These notes also indicate the car being owned by J.D. Larkin of Saratoga, California in 1974, and then by Jo Jackson from Palo Alto, California from around 1977 when Wallace acquired the car. Hundreds of receipts dating back to 1974 indicate fastidious service, maintenance, and refurbishment work carried out during the next several decades, including an engine rebuild by Jerry Woods in 1994, whereby the noted Porsche specialist enlarged the engine capacity to 2.7-liters. In doing so, he retained what is believed to be the original type 911/59 engine case, which according to Porsche literature falls in line with the chassis number sequence for a 1973 US-market 911 T Coupe equipped with MFI. A respray of the exterior bodywork has been carried out in the correct Sepia Brown color, and in 2015, the interior was refurbished with new seat covers by Autos International.

Most recently, this well-kept 911 was treated to a comprehensive cosmetic detailing by the renowned specialists at I Am Detailing in Costa Mesa, California. Today, this lovely Porsche presents very well inside and out, still adorned by what appears to be its original blue and yellow California license plates, indicating its treasured time in the mild climate most likely since new. In addition to the comprehensive history file, the 911 is offered with a tool kit and correct jack.
