Thread: What fuel / octane to use?

  1. #11
As a matter of routine, I use only 92 octane non-oxygenated (no ethanol)
gasoline in my 911's. I have nothing good to say about any fuel containing
corn liquor. It has caused damage to my International loader, F-750 dump truck,
two outboard motors, and countless small engines. Ethanol is a fad that will pass, eventually, IMO.

I am in Hong Kong but will use same system as Europe/UK.......where low octane is 95 and high 98.

so seems like car will run fine on 95 with no difference on 98.

    thanks

    leaded fuel

I pop some leaded fuel (racing fuel) into the tank, and my god does the car and the mfi pump love that lead. It runs way better and it so nice to see a grey exhaust rather than the now common black soot.

    As a "rough" comparison...

As previously stated, USA measure octane by the average of RON+MON where as Europe uses the RON method

In Europe, octane in their gasoline is "generally" sold in the following grades
    92/95/98

In many parts of the USA, octane in gasoline is generally sold in the following grades 87/89/91 (higher in some states)

87 USA roughly equals 92 in Europe
89 USA roughly equals 95 in Europe
91 USA roughly equals 98 in Europe

If you mathematically work out the numbers, it will vary but this chart is just a good general reference

    Erwin,

I've been adding about a half cup of Marvel Mystery Oil to both gas and oil about every 3 months and at each oil change for for last 18 years...
