We just finished the first couple sets which are already spoken for. These are made from thicker 19g steel and were shaped off my factory ST steel flares.

The neat thing about ST flares is that while factory versions in both fiber glass and metal changed very little in shape from 70-72, privateers were working the rules using wider versions to get bigger rear tires under them.
Here are some shots of STs from the day with various rear flares, and the famous #107 Martini RSR which started life as a 72 ST. Also shown is a 911R which evolved into a wide body competition tool.

Here are some more versions. I also include my Light Yellow 72 with some German ST flares taped on for looks. Note also the wide 11x15 Fuchs on the Toad Hall, Kremer, and anther privateer car. These would not fit under the facory ST flares without some modification.

My German flares measured between 19 and 20 gage depending on where the measurement was taken. They are probably made from 20 gage stock. A flat piece of 19 or 20 gage steel is not very resistant to bending, but shape that same piece into a curve, or put 90 degree edges on it, and it becomes quite a bit more resistant to bending or deforming.
ST flares have much more convex and concave shapes (there are no flat areas) than narrow body flares. When welded onto the fenders or rear quarters, they become even stronger from the weld, so they are sufficiently stiff IMO. I doubt that mounted on a car with paint, one would have a hard time telling the difference.

Did Nick every make these flares available? Does anyone produce an ST flare already on a longhood fender?
