help. floorboard clutch woes, what to do?

On my 911t, I took out the po's homemade driver's side floorboard which had a funky wooden block to stop the clutch pedal from travelling too far. As an idiot I drove the car without the floorboard and pushed in the clutch and got a blood curdling sound at the transmission. Is there a stop that is missing or will the new floorboard that I ordered fix this problem and keep the clutch pedal from travelling too far and blowing up my transmission? Thanks, Cort.

You won't "blow up" your tranny. But, yes, there is an adjustable stop on the original and, I assume, aftermarket floor boards to keep you from doing that.

BTW, if you push down on the clutch gently, you will feel when the cable draws tighter signaling that the pressure plate has moved as far as it wants to w/o bending the arms or hurting the t/o bearing. At this point, measure from the knee pad or steering wheel where this is so you can find that position again. The pedal should have a half inch or so at the top that you can pull it toward you. After the clutch fully releases and you can shift or put the tranny in gear (best to use 2nd for this), the pedal need not go down too much more, say an inch, to bottom out on the stop.

These specs are not official and not taken from a manual. Only a guideline to understand the range. Please consult the book.
