Has anybody bought or used a home garage car lift?

I am interested in purchasing a car lift. Does anyone have any opinions on brands, types, quality, and are they worth it?

    Thanks, Wolfgang

I have a 4 post by Autolifters. It is the 3rd one I have owned and I recommend highly. Most important factor is ceiling clearance. I now have 9.5' and that is minimum for stacking two 911's and allowing me to stand straight under the car for service work. You may have to modify garage door opener and back upper car on to clear the door. The cost is about $2400 plus shipping from Kansas. You need a couple of friends on hand to unload when the truck arrives. Check their website for the M6.

Clearly that is the best solution. However, I was able to raise the lift motor about 6" and solve the problem. In a former location my garage was high and deep enough that all I needed to do was adjust the "up" limit switch so the door stopped with about 12" still covering the top of the opening. With that I did not need to back the car on the lift. In those days I was a 914 collector! Only have one left now.
