Alright, who bought the sweet vintage seat on ebay???

(quick into...I am a NorCal 356 owner, frequent lurker and rare poster, hang out at EASY, enough about me...)

There was a cool vintage seat, late 356/early 911, on ebay. Looked like a GT seat but couldn't be sure, so I avoided bidding.

I recognized the winners name from this board, but won't reveal it, I'll let him post if he likes. If the winner reads this and prefers not to post, email me directly, I'd love to know the details of seat. Origins? Porsche issue? Aftermarket? It was very cool and I haven't seen this seat before. Congrats on the win.

    Cheers, Jason

    Yep, that's it...

What do you know about it? Was it 356 or 911 issue? Congrats on the win. ;-)

well my guess is it's as the seller said, pre 67, I won't know exactly what I've got until I get it in my hands, the pictures just are not detailed enough but it does appear to have the correct hardware and thats the big factor, the covering on the back leads me to believe it's definitely from a 356 as I've not seen this on 911's

Ah, interesting feedback/info on the hardware...

The carpet made me believe it was 356 as well. If it's not a GT seat, a period race seat is my next, highly uneducated, guess.

Congrats again, post an update when you find more info.

    Sam,
Is it just me or what? I envision your home theater room has rows of early sport seats in front of the screen.

    Question

    Sam,
I looked long and hard at these seats too, especially the other one (the 67 911R seat) which was being auctioned off by the same seller. It went for around $900.
Maybe I am missing something, but I have heard from a few early Porsche race people that these very early 911 sport seats were made of fibreglass, and after years of usage are known to crack under stress.
Since Vintage Seats is making such nice reproductions of the early 911R seat, which I have heard are better made and stronger under stress - for $1,000 including the headrest, and in perforated leather, not to mention brand new and not needing any re-upholsterywhich both of the seller's seats needed, why not go with the new Vintage Seat? Because it's originaly?
By the time the seat is re-upholstered and cleaned up by Autos International, I figured the seat will also no longer be original. What am I missing?

    Question Vintage Seats???

    Hi gruen911,
Do you contact information for Vintage Seats...my friend won't sell me his and I'd like to replace mine with some more period correct.
    Thanks
