    Great looking Car. Once tha bracket was painted black, they look fine to me, no need for the covers.

    I say tape 'em off.

    Paint chips, black or otherwise, and since the area is rather obscure, I would recommend taping them off black. In that way, you won't destroy your nice paint and the paint you save will be chip free.

    tape em'

    that's what I did with mine using black electrical vinyl tape. that was back in 1996 and I haven't touch them since.

    Another Option

    Shrink tubing. Might be the answer.

    I even have some the correct diameter (large) shrink tube. I think that's a great idea.

    sorry, but why not use the Bosch lights or the proper cover plates? I understand the Bosch lights are rare-ish, but they look sooooo good

    You know I have a 70 and I never liked the look of those. They seem to clunky. I prefer the SWB under bumper fogs. Anyone know why they switched? Did Hella stop production on those at that time? Maybe the factory wanted more candle power?

    As for the brackets I like the black look. I would also suggest the electrical tape. Make sure you get the good 3M polyvinyl with UV protection ( not that that area will get a lot of sun). It handles the heat better.
