    A little strut help please

    Struts? Whats what?
I just bought a set of "S" brakes for my 1972 "T" and boy I am happy, but I have one proublem. "S" brake s will not fit in the 3" spacing that are "T"s
So I need to Look for 3.5" spacing right.
Well what are my options "S" struts or "SC" correct?

ANd what are the difference between Koni and Bilsteins?

Do they both have 3.5" spacing and are just different brands
or do the two have different set ups.

So what do I need to make these nice "S" brake that I am very excited about work?

Also if you have any of these parts for sale please let me know
Thanks for the help and check out my project if you get a chance

You'll need either an original Koni strut, or a later A or Carrera strut. Koni, Bilstein and Boge all used the 3.5" spacing at points in time. The A caliper started appearing in 1975 or so. If you get a Bilstein strut you're locked into using a Bilstein insert. If you get a Koni strut, you're locked into using a Koni insert. If you use a Boge strut, you can use Boge, Koni or Bilstein inserts.

With brakes, especially for 911T's, there are other options. Wilwood makes some wonderful four piston aluminum calipers which probably sell for less than you paid for the used 911S aluminum ones, are new, and are better. In the front of our old cars, the shocks are inserts which screw inside the struts, and the thread is different between the Koni S and the Boge strut. If I were in your place, I'd sell the S calipers, purchase a set of Wilwoods and purchase new Konis for the Boge strut. In my opinion, the brakes on the 1972 T are more than adequate, but you will see quite an improvement in handling with new front shock inserts. Also consider new rear Konis. Since the rear is so heavy relative to the front, these cars need more rebound damping, and the adjustable Konis will provide that.
