    early layshaft scoring

Anyone have a fix for this issue? Early intermediate shaft endplay is limited by the iron IS cover plate. In my race car I have shaft to cover scoring. I cleaned the burring on the shaft and resurfaced the plate. It continues. Oil passage in plug appears to be clear. Anyone have a fix without splitting the case and updating the shaft? Thanks in advance.

It is set to .004" Thinking about opening the oil hole in the plug to .008".

Upon further diagnosis, I determined that the timing gear on the crankshaft is loose. Gear to gear it's like excessive crankshaft end play, but the crank isn't moving. I'm still trying to understand how that has caused said scoring.

If I understand correctly you are saying that the press fit of the timing gear on the crankshaft has been lost ?

When viewing the timing gear through the dizzy hole there is a slight wobble when moving the crank.
