Alu 901/13 engine to S specs

    Hi all,

I have an aluminium 1968 911 engine, type 901/13. Originally these engines were used in combination with the sportomatic gearbox.

If the engine needs a rebuild, I would like to change it to S specs from 1967-68. What do you guys think that need to be changed?

    • Pistons & Cylinders
    • R901.104.305.02 911S heads for the correct size valves
    • A counter weighed crankshaft
    • S rods
    • 002 yellow tag S distributor
    • Changed Weber IDA or Weber IDS carbs

Would these be the most important changes to the engine? Or am I missing things :-)

901/13 is a T engine , so you might have the large ports on the heads , seem to remember they are similar to 68S ,
Balanced Crank might cost a bit , and B&Ps

I think that’s it. You will spend a ton buying all these parts and finding them. 67/68S only.

The 002 yellow tag is in the engine already, set of heads was 1200€. The CW crank will be expensive indeed

Cheap on the heads, I paid $2500 10 years ago for the last set I bought.

You might want to look at your engine before you buy a crank, I seem to think they were all counter weighted back then.

Yes that is true, hope that there is a CW crank inside that is usable.
