Rear 1/4 window trim alignment

Correct, SWB trim upto 67 had the pins. 68 used the bright anodized aluminium trim same through to 73.

i think there are two kinds of q window piece
the early ones had pegs and were attached from under with speed nuts
the later were screwed onto the q panel
I have a faulty memory .... but i think they were wider..... maybe

Peter I saw your car the other day.

I personally think it might be the shape of the panel and not the fitment, the ledge that the trim sits on looks very wide to me, hence why the trim doesn't sit where it should I was waiting until
I was next to my resto 73 to have a good look at it to compare to your car.

Hopefully I can do that next week and report back.

I would’ve thought that the aluminum trim is governed by the pinch weld.

The pinch weld does dictate a little. But you have a little room to bend the aluminum.

In the photo there is a pretty big gap on the door top trim, and you can carefully grind the trim to fit better.

I would rather have stuff look right, even if I have to mess up
a little underneath

And it might be possible that new door top trim is a different exrtrusion, tho I have never checked.
