    FS: Concours Restored Cibie Bi-Iode Headlamps: 170mm & 190mm

    ** 170's are SOLD ** One 190 Left **

It's getting increasingly hard to find a good plating shop. The last one I used does good work at fair prices but it took them a year (!) to turn around the last batch I sent them. A customer recommended a shop here on the West Coast and I recently sent a batch out to them. They guarantee a turn around of four weeks or less. Be still my beating heart.

You might be familiar with the restoration process for reflectors by now. At the first stop the first two steps of the chrome triple plating process are done, copper and nickel. They are then sent to another shop for the vapor deposited process. The second shop always turns things around quickly. So the batch I sent out should be finished in about six weeks, maybe a bit more.

In addition to filling a number of orders, I've discovered I have some extra assemblies, both 170mm and 190mm. As you may know, 170mm was the size associated with Porsche as they used them on early rally cars and the 911R, 911ST and 911RSR. The 190mm diameter lamps were used on French cars. We're engineered a method to fit the larger ones into Porsche 7" headlight buckets and when mounted they look identical to the 170's. I have the following available:

    NLA: 170mm available for $3,500.00
One price increase, from $3,200.00 to $3,500.00 n five years. Meanwhile prices of good cores have risen sharply.

One Set Available: 190mm available for $2,450.00
I've sold about 20 of these at this price that hasn't changed in a long time.

If you are interested you can purchase them at the AC Shop by following the links or PM or email me.

Many thanks to the Registry for providing this service.

    Cheers,
    John

P.S. These are my favorite product. I enjoy restoring them and it's gratifying to see how delighted the buyers are.
