    How Did the Factory Go About Painting Special Ordered Colors

    Here is the color chart for the 1965 911s. This chart doesn’t include the colors that could be special ordered, such as black and metallic silver, for example. How did the factory go about painting these special ordered colored cars? Did they wait until they had a certain number of cars in the queue that were to be painted in one of the special colors and then paint them all at once? Did that hold up the “release” date for these cars since they had to wait to be painted in one of the special colors?

    Sorry2say….the above is NOT the color chart for the 64/65/66 901/911/912 units.
    It is not even close to be this.
    This is a sample card from the color and interiour fabrics folder.

    The correct paint chart had been discussed intensivly.

    You also can have a look at the percentage listing of colors on produces cars for the years.

    Mostly paint jobs had been grouped, which is logical due to preparing, using and cleaning of the tools.
    As in these days all work had been done by hand, thus the workprapration and the REFA technicians - Reichsausschuss für Arbeitszeitermittlung - , who sorted the workflow, made surely up their mind, how to work most cost efficiant.

    I got the exterior paint chart, which is labelled "Porsche 911 F-Series (1963 – 1973) – Paint Colors (Exterior & Interior)," from the following website: https://www.stuttcars.com/porsche-91...rior-interior/

    @prs356:
    please, do you homework….the search function in this forum will give you foremost correct hints on correct questions.
    The wording „911F series“ is a misleading notation.
    There are O, A, B, C, D, E and there is a F series! These, of course, difer from each other.

    Again: the copy you have shown above is NOT a paint chart for the 64/65 901/911/912 O series built cars!
    No matter how the conglomerations on the website will make you believe.
    it is just not correct and will never be correct, at neither time in the past, nor in times of future.
