    Unhappy The end of an era .... Ed Pink's shop get's displaced...

    This is a bit personal for me.....
    I lived a half mile from this shop. The shop was/is on Raymer St. a few hundred feet from Van Nuys Blvd. ground zero for 'the golden years' of street racing.... Raymer St. is adjacent to East/West railroad tracks and straight for about 1/2 mile... Guess where some of us did our street racing at night ?.... Right in front of Ed's shop.....

    Engine building from flatheads and Hemis, to 962's and Singers......

    I dreamed as a teenager of owing an Ed Pink-built blown hemi engine. I think I even still have the Ed Pink catalog from the day. What a great video, especially the long pause and sentiment at the very end of the video.

    Chuck, thanks for sharing this wonderful film, at least now the history is preserved. Ed, what a fantastic character. Hope the legacy continues with a new shop. Legend.

    Chuck, thank you too for sharing this...simply wonderful. Such a shame to get displaced for a 'bus stop' compounded by the future of transportation that will be powered by soulless 'motors' with neither the soul and character of every engine that has gone through Ed's shop.

    Just terrible. Bulldozed for a bus stop for the Olympics? How does that even happen? Did someone buy up that plot of land or did the city take it from them for the bus stop? There has to be a backstory here, and knowing the Olympic Committee, it has to be a dirty one. Where's he moving to, btw?
