    SWB Bosch starter 0 001 212 002 color

    Hello,
What is the original tip part color of a Bosch 001 212 002 starter which was used 4/65 up to 7/68? I assume the starter was black over all or?
    Thank you.
    Best regards
    Claudius

The starters were held by the mounting flange and dipped in a bucket of paint, I suspect to seal the electric side of the case. The unpainted end at the starter gear would range from 3/4” to a couple inches.

    I agree about the technic.
If I zoom in the picture taken 1967, it looks like the 002 starter was completely black including the mounting flanges?

I've seen a lot of starters with no paint on the front , I would say this is the usual paint procedure , but as with most everything there are exceptions .
