Engine case question 3R vs 2R

    Folks,

I just realized I had bought a used magnesium case which has two different part numbers….. is this a problem?

    One side is a “901 101 101 3R” and the other side is “901 101 102 2R”.

Does is matter if the “3R” and “2R” don’t match?

My ‘71T has “3R” cast on both case halves.

    Thanks!

    No, crankcases we’re up dated in 1/2’s. 1R-2R, 2R-3R, 3R-4R, etc, ending at 7R-7R.

As long as the pairing numbers match you know at least that is how it left the factory

Thank you all for the information! I’m happy to hear this… I thought I had a mismatch for a moment.

I have a case with the same numbers. No issue.
