In 1971 I left Southern California and moved to Aspen Colorado. When I filled up that morning there was a gas war going on. I paid 14.9 cents a gallon. As I recall my 67 VW bus had a 10 gallon tank that wasn't empty. I topped it off for less than $1.50. Normally gas was about 25 cents a gallon at that time.

And here in Vancouver, BC we have had the experience of being the highest in North America awhile ago at 2.49 a liter at Canadian dollars Thank god, it's dropped back to 1.94 and this is regular, the cheap stuff

    Thanks, Rick

You guys have got it lucky so stop complaining.
Prices are as of today in New Zealand for 95 Octane per litre
    NZD $3.20
    Canadian Dollar $2.49
    USD $1.82
    1x 3.78 litres = $6.87 USD per Gallon

Don't ask what I did with my car today,,,, I definitely didn't drive it

On the other hand, we just put $50 of gas in the tank & didn’t think about how many (or rather how few) litres we got for that. Drove for an hour on the back roads & when we stopped for lunch, we only had 1 coffee instead of two. Priorities! D2C9668A-582F-4A59-828C-02E4C44A00F2.jpg7BD7C9AE-C223-48A3-BCBF-5C3A74303636.jpg

Don't get me wrong, the price of petrol is not an issue but driving only for an hour would be for me. I put 700km on the 72 the weekend prior Auckland to Lake Rotoiti and back on as many back roads as possible
