Thread: Recaro sport seats, early or later?

  1. #11
    Sport seats were a popular option for the Carrera 2.7 RS, but not for everybody. Approx 50% of M472 RS left the factory with sport seats. Probably today 90% are with sport seats, as it's mine.
    D shape headrest is the same used for standard seat?

    hi lorenzo, yes d-shape is always the same shape. the successor (peanut) would be true to the year of construction but not with real leather.

    Just curious, but what were the other seat options?

    @all
    yesterday Karim and I had seen a post on Insta with some pics concerning the pre production RS LEO-ZA 63.
    We noticed in the pics, that no sport seats had been installed, instead some standard comfort seats….

    Any explanation why this happened?

    Some further details in these pics can also be seen:
    middle rs scripts on ducktail, no covers of the wheel hub…etc

    I did had some talks to clearify the issue of comfort seat:
    standard had been - for the touring edition - the comfort seat.
    According to the equipment list you could only order the sports seats for DM 250 each with the M numbers M409 and M40. But only if you had already chosen the Touring Package M472 anyway.

    Think the spec varied by market probably the Touring got the equivalent 73 S of the local market. Not all RS got headrests on Sports seats as standard in U.K. I know if one very original that has the “plugs”.

    One further thing about the seats as they are. They are definitely recovered. The quality of the recovering is pretty good. The leather itself seems to be also one the better ones, but not comparable with the original "Roser" leather. In addition the seams are wrong. Double seams were never practised. Additionally the so called "feinstperforiert" leather perforation is missing. Please see this comment only as help to define the original standard.

    Here is my very original single 1967 sport seat in the original materials…Super happy to have this in my Porsche. All I did was match the bottom cover with new corduroy and just placed over the original seat bottom to preserve it. Amazing feel and the original cushions are firm and nice!
