    Sunroof maintenance & cable lube

    About to work on the '73's sunroof and realize I have seen much info on maintenance.

    I am not going to remove or adjust (hopefully) the sliding panel but curious about what Porsche calls for in lubricant/grease? My experience with Mercedes was really only one specific lubricant.

    Any sunroof service tips?

    All the info I have read re these cables is ……not to use any lubricant
    Seems this can attract dirt and over time restrict movement

    Just a thought. A dry lubricant (graphite or moly) might help.

    Peter is right on, whenever I rebuilt sunroofs, cables and tracks were coated with dry moly. Complete disassembly required, completely clean and dry, apply dry lube, and assemble in reverse order.

    And again the MBZ lubricant is so sticky and viscous its suspicious .... but works great.

    And absolutely.
    Complete disassembly required, completely clean and dry, apply dry lube, and assemble
